Cody Foor, Acutonics® Student Intern

19 Sep, 2022
Cody Foor’s love of Martial Arts and his desire to enhance his capabilities as a healer led him to a deep exploration of the underlying theories and practices of Taoism, Buddhism, Yin Yang theories and the I Ching. His entry into Acutonics was through Will Morris’s Medical Astrology Course. Meeting Will and Theresa Lee Morris and learning about Acutonics, he was immediately hooked. He began his studies in September of 2021 and by May of 2022 he completed all of his core courses, multiple electives, the majority of his clinic hours and is working on his thesis now. His passion for Acutonics and the healing arts shines through.
Cody Foor, Acutonics® Student Intern

Cody has a passion for learning and an ability to achieve profound levels of understanding with this work. He is creative with his treatment planning, heart centered, and always has a sparkle in his eyes. It has been an honor and delight to be one of Cody's teachers. I look forward to what the future brings for Cody. —Theresa Lee Morris, Senior Licensed Acutonics Faculty

When Cody approached me with his thesis idea, to bring Acutonics to the Herbalist Guild, and measure the outcomes, I was impressed with his vision for this event, and agreed to work with him as his mentor. Although, Acutonics has exhibited at countless conferences since its founding, nearly 25 years ago, we had never attended the Herbalist Guild Conference. Not only had Cody identified an innovate way to demonstrate his knowledge of Acutonics, but he clearly articulated ways to share this medicine with other professionals, many of whom may not be familiar with this sound medicine modality.

Cody will be introducing Acutonics to attendees at the Herbalist Guild’s 33rd Annual Symposium, in Bethesda, MD, October 21-23, 2022. Attendees at this conference range from beginners to world class healers and doctors from multiple disciplines and modalities. This is a tremendous opportunity to share your knowledge of Acutonics and receive clinic hours, as you will help provide mini treatments to conference attendees. If you can help, please reach out to Cody at c4josim@yahoo.com.

It has been a delight to get to know Cody, and I hope you enjoy reading more about him. — Ellen F. Franklin, PhD

Cody grew up in rural Pennsylvania, with three older sisters. “I adventured in the Appalachian forests and worked on dairy farms. I fell in love with martial arts early and started my formal training when I was eleven.” He completed his BA in history at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and worked for several years in the water filtration field while continuing his martial arts journey. Eventually, he was able to focus full time on his career in Martial Arts and has owned and operated a Martial Arts Academy since 1999. He is also one of the managers of his Grandmaster’s Acupuncture Clinic.

Currently, Cody and his wife Leslie live in Buford, GA, a suburb of Atlanta. They have two sons, Magnus 14, and Lucius 12.  Cody, states: “They are all tremendously supportive and grateful for Acutonics. They’re my best clients”.

Every time I speak with Cody I am impressed with his focus and drive, he reflects on his trajectory from massage school to obtaining his Black Belt in HapKiDo and discovering Acutonics.

I moved to Baltimore, MD in 1995 and found HapKiDo. I worked for a water filtration company while continuing my martial arts training. To enhance my healing capacity, I entered the Baltimore School of Massage in August of 1996. In March of 1998 I graduated Massage School and tested for my Black Belt in HapKiDo the very next day. With my Black Belt I had the opportunity to be the Head Instructor and eventually the school owner.

Although the healing aspect of my journey took a back seat to operating the HapKiDo Academy, it was never too far away. I was using the healing techniques and knowledge I learned in massage school and in my daily martial arts training to provide the best experience I could for the students.

We stayed in Baltimore until 2004 when we had the opportune chance to move with Grandmaster Choe to Georgia and opened a successful HapKiDo Academy in Duluth, GA. After I earned the title of HapKiDo Master in 2014, I found myself with more windows of opportunity to reenter the healing world and began to study herbalism. My study of herbalism led me to take a tongue and pulse diagnosis class with Dr. Will Morris. The silver lining of the pandemic was the opportunity to take another class with Dr. Morris, Medical Astrology for Herbalists. I found a new love in Medical Astrology. It was taught in a way that brought so many of the philosophies I had studied into an enlightening whole. A Medical Astrology Class for Sound Healing was on the horizon, and I was hooked.

Will Morris shares: “Cody Foor is an exceptional student, practitioner, and teacher. It has been a true privilege to share this journey with him. He is a deep thinker and approaches the study compassionately, generously, and seriously. Anyone who studies, receives treatments, and generally engages in his company will benefit”.

Cody was deeply impacted by both classes he took with Will and knew he wanted more. “After experiencing the profundity of sound work, I realized that the Acutonics sound medicine modality was something for which I was searching. When I learned that Teresa was offering Acutonics I, I registered for the class, it was amazing”!

Theresa Lee Morris writes: “Cody has a passion for learning and an ability to achieve profound levels of understanding with this work. He is creative with his treatment planning, heart centered, and always has a sparkle in his eyes. It has been an honor and delight to be one of Cody's teachers. I look forward to what the future brings for Cody”!

Cody describes the rich aspects of Acutonics that appeal to him: "I love all of it, the spirit, and the art. The allowance and respect for intuition as part of the process. The Harmonious blend of philosophies and its incredible effectiveness. It just works on so many levels and is unintrusive and gentle, yet subtle and profoundly powerful".

When asked how the study of Acutonics has shifted his life, clinical practice and work he responds: “I want to be a professional sound healer and share this magic with as many souls as I can. I will keep treating students and friends and family, but my goal is to have a dedicated practice, and I am very close to achieving my goal of being a fully a Certified Acutonics® Practitioner”.

Cody observes that Acutonics brings together so many of the philosophies and concepts that he has been exploring through his adult life, and now has a practical way to help people.

Acutonics is a sublime integration of so many wonderful philosophies and concepts. I have had many profound healing experiences with those I have been able to share this with, both Acutonics teachers and students, my martial arts students, friends, and family. I am blessed to have the HapKiDo school because there is always an opportunity to help the students and their families with Acutonics. I am extremely grateful to Will Morris and Theresa Lee Morris.  They are superlative teachers and guides.

The karate school setting has allowed me to develop a kind of triage skill that forces me to come up with simple yet powerful protocols for many physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs in a limited time frame.

Prior to his study of Acutonics Cody studied and practiced, massage, polarity therapy and acupressure. He has also explored Esoteric Acupuncture and Sacred Geometry ala Dr. Mikio Sankey and finds Medical Astrology to be an important consideration in designing treatment plans. He also works with Acutonics hand chimes, crystals, singing bowls, tingshas, and will occasionally integrate a drum into a treatment. Although he isn’t working with gongs yet, he hopes to in the future.

Cody describes great results when layering sound in a treatment.

The audibility of the chimes and bowls is especially enriching for distance work.  The chimes and bowls are a wonderful segue into other parts of the treatment. They complete the intention/message touching an energetic entirety of the client’s being.

When Cody stops to take time for himself, he enjoys playing music, hunting for mushrooms, and making medicinal tinctures from mushrooms.

His goal, which he’s well on his way to achieving in record time, is to complete his Acutonics Certification and establish a dedicated Acutonics sound healing practice.
