26 May, 2023
I have had the pleasure of getting to know Adrienne Irizarry as her thesis mentor, and teacher. Adrienne studied with Theresa Lee Morris and Will Morris, at Kootenay Sound Healing Center in BC, completing all of her coursework to become a Certified Acutonics® Practitioner. Her passion for this modality, and love of teaching, led to her decision to train as an Acutonics Teacher. Adrienne will be offering classes in Northern New England as well as on Zoom.

“Acutonics has had a profound effect on my personal and professional life. I look at the body differently. I look at human dynamics differently. It has really shaped me in ways I never anticipated.” — Adrienne Irizarry

Adrienne Irizarry, a Holistic Women’s Health Practitioner is passionate about helping women live their best lives. Moon Essence, her clinical practice, is located in Dover, New Hampshire, where she incorporates Acutonics®, Chinese herbs and nutrition, and pelvic steaming.

She has always been drawn to teaching, and is the founder of the Tao of Women Institute, where she shares her knowledge with holistic women’s health practitioners. You can also learn from Adrienne, through her Reproductive Rebel Podcast that can be found anywhere you listen to your favorite podcasts. Soon, she will also be offering Acutonics Level I & II Classes, in Northern New England.

Born in Bangor, Maine, of Acadian French descent, Adrienne feels very fortunate that during her childhood she lived near both sides of her family. Her love of music began early in life: “I was a musician! I play violin and sing. Although I also played field hockey and softball most of my childhood activities involved playing violin. The opportunity really expanded my horizons.”

Her love of music led to a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Maine. She also received a master’s in communication and fulfilled some courses toward a doctorate. She has also completed Chinese nutritional therapy, herbal training in Chinese, Western and Ayurvedic herbs, a pelvic steaming certification, as well as Acutonics Certification. She was recently featured in Apple News and Grit Daily as a Top 10 Health Industry Disruptor for 2023 recognizing her unique approach to women’s health.

Adrienne spent the first 10 years of her career in marketing, public relations and copy writing before making the switch to work as a holistic wellness professional. “My love for holistic health kept me sane working in the corporate world. Everything I read during that time frame set me up for the career change I made in 2017. I have always been called to alternative medicine it just took me a while to figure out how I wanted to work in this field.”

Adrienne’s clinical work incorporates Chinese nutritional therapy, herbs, and pelvic steaming, and while Acutonics is the most recent addition to her toolkit it is the modality she has been pursuing the longest. Reflecting on what encouraged her to pursue Acutonics, Adrienne states: “So much of our medical model is invasive. I love that Acutonics gives me a non-invasive way to give people the benefits of acupuncture without the worry of needles. Needles deter many people from seeking acupuncture and Acutonics meets that need.”

Adrienne continues, “Acutonics has had a profound effect on my personal and professional life. I look at the body differently. I look at human dynamics differently. It has really shaped me in ways I never anticipated. My specialty is women’s health and I use sound to bring women’s bodies into right relationship.”

Theresa Lee Morris, who recommended Adrienne for Acutonics teacher training, shared: “It has been a pleasure to teach Adrienne. She enriched our classes with her insightful questions, and by sharing her wisdom and experience with the tuning forks. She embodies the spirit of Acutonics in her approach to sound healing and I am so excited that she will be teaching this work!”

As a natural educator, Adrienne enjoys teaching people about the clinical work she offers: “I find with any new modality education is needed, but once people see how it makes them feel they are very receptive. In addition to tuning forks, I may incorporate Koshi chimes, a rain stick, an ocean drum, or Tibetan bowls. I love having bowls on the body, while using the tuning forks. People like the feedback of the bowls touching them while I’m doing other work. You can feel this powerful resonance in the space shift with layering.”

As summer approaches Adrienne is looking forward to camping and kayaking. “There is nothing that makes me happier than being in my kayak on the water”.
