With the Blue Moon of March 31st still resounding through us, we begin April 1st with the feeling that anything is possible! This is a common feeling when moving into the sign of the Ram, Aries. But there are many shifting and competing energies vying for our attention and intention at this time. So it is important to attempt to find a focused intention and not become too distracted by all the hub-bub going on around us.

February Astrology Themes: No Moon, New Moon, Carry the Light Within

As I reflect on the qualities of Uranus this month I am deeply heartened by the millions of women around the globe who persist to affect change on a global scale. Mother Jones Magazine in a recent recap reported powerful statistics on actions taken by women since the 2017 marches, which is believed to be the largest single-day-demonstration in US history, attended by 3.2-5 million people depending on your source.

In its Earth Dog Yang form there is also strong influence over agriculture, the environment, earth healing, and protection of tribal lands, as Dog strongly defends the earth against violence and material exploitation.

The passage of Saturn through Capricorn these next couple years is inexorably tied to Pluto, which is currently transiting through the middle degrees of the sign. The Saturn/Pluto combination tends to manifest (Saturn) psychologically intense (Pluto) realities.

On November 22, 2017, we entered the sign of Sagittarius the ninth sign of the zodiac, ruled by Jupiter. The planet is named for the Roman Jupiter or Jove the chief god of the Roman Pantheon, who to the Greeks was known as Zeus. Although there are many names and cross-cultural myths associated with this planetary deity including thunderer, wielder of lightning and supreme commander.

Just as we finish celebrating our deceased, we are often reminded of our mortality and how it is never too late to enjoy our lives to the fullest.

In October, we are in the astrological time of Libra (September 23 – October 22), ruled by the planet Venus. During this cycle, we are influenced by the change of season from Late Summer into Fall, when the seeds of change we have planted in the Spring come to full harvest. As daylight shortens in the Northern Hemisphere we prepare for less light and it's a time to go inward. We also celebrate our luminous Harvest Moon and the planet Venus rising in the wee hours as our Morning Star of beauty and elegance.

Venus residing in the sign of Libra is concerned with issues of self-worth, the interplay of opposites, and the desire for balance, justice, and uniting oppositional forces to promote true harmony and love. She also has roots to war and agriculture and of course there is her long-standing relationship with Mars the god of War, which brings an element of chaos to this dynamic, creative and highly generative relationship. Yet, it is often from darkest chaos that true creative inspiration emerges into conscious light. The creative process itself often involves darkness, turmoil, struggle, pain, fear, and risk, and yet the end result often emerges in a moment of golden splendor, not unlike Venus.
