Venus

On April 20 we entered the sign of Taurus ruled by Venus the goddess of love. Venus the brightest planet in our sky is similar in size to the Earth. Billions of years ago Venus may well have more closely resembled Earth supporting water and oceans. However, today it is a hotbed of volcanic activity, covered with sulfuric clouds and a surface temperatures around 425 degrees centigrade.

The Venus Tuning Fork is Rose Pink in color, A is the approximate note, and when combined with Ohm the Ohm/Venus 6th Interval is created. Another popular pairing with Venus is Mars creating the Mars/Venus 5th. The Ohm/Venus 6th is a building interval that is an expression of the archetypal feminine similar to the building qualities of the Full Moon 6th. Ohm/Venus 6th tonifies, increases our awareness of others and nourishes beauty, harmony and creativity. This interval can help you to explore your creative passion.

Healing Themes and Archetypal Keywords: Affection, devotion, eros, harmony, balance and proportion, love and beauty, refinement, aesthetics, the arts, the yin aspect of sexuality, sensuality, values and taste, concern for justice, generosity of spirit, sharing with others.

Venus in Myths and Archetypes: Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of desire, love, sexual attraction, beauty, and fertility. Since antiquity she has been identified with the planet Venus and the morning star and evening star. In the Homeric Hymns she is the beautiful golden goddess, and the Romans portray her as moving in radiant light, for with her beauty comes. In later works she is also described as exerting great power over men and gods alike regardless of the cost. Arising from the sea she is often pictured with shells and dolphins, and was viewed as a protector of sailors and being able to calm the sea. Her association with water and moisture may also relate back to her more ancient roots as a fertility goddess. Other symbols associated with Aphrodite include the dove, swan, sparrow, pomegranate, myrtle, and lime tree.

The name Aphrodite comes from the Greek word aphros, which refers to the white foam that gathered around the severed genitals of Uranus when they were tossed into the sea by his avenging son Cronus. This story of her birth, which is attributed to Hesiod, makes her older than and somewhat separate from the Olympian pantheon that was lead by Zeus. Her sphere of influence was so extensive she remained aloof from Olympus, and authors like Homer tried to subordinate the power of Aphrodite. Pathos, home to Aphrodite is identified as one of her major centers of worship. Cyprus, the island on which it is located, is named for its stores of copper, a sacred metal associated with Aphrodite. This Cyprian goddess has many similarities to the Great Mother who rules over birth, life, fortune, love, death, and fate.

Her origins are likely Semitic, evolving from the rich tapestry of Middle Eastern goddesses that include the Phoenician goddess Astarte, the queen of heaven; the Babylonian Ishtar, the goddess of love and sexuality; and the Sumerian goddess Inanna, who is likened to Venus the morning star and has sexual, warlike, and astral functions. Although primarily identified as the goddess of love, Aphrodite has a powerful warlike strength not unlike Innana, the goddess of love and war.

Venus: Archetypal Qualities
Aphrodite/Venus embodies the archetypal qualities of attraction, pleasure, harmony, sensuality, passion, vulnerability, suffering, creativity, the pursuit of beauty, and Eros. She represents the spiritual longing that is reflected in love of god and the more human aspects of love that are represented in the unfathomable human yearning to find our true partner in life, our soul mate.

Born from chaos, archetypally this goddess is also linked to the chaos that can be found in the creative and highly generative aspects of the creative process. It is often from the darkest chaos of turmoil, struggle, pain, fear and risk that that true creative inspiration emerges into conscious light. The generative power associated with the creation of something new, whether it is a physical birth, a creative birth, or a stimulating conversation, can be attributed to Aphrodite. This archetypal influence extends well beyond the sexual or romantic to represent the merging of mind, heart, and spirit, or inspiration that comes from blending of two distinct ideas into an entirely new theory.

Another important aspect of Venus is her union with Mars. This passionate relationship can be found in the union of opposites inherent to the alchemical process. This essence that pervades all of creation is derived from oppositional forces, and it is in the spaces in between these forces that a true union occurs. This is not unlike the space contained between two tuning forks which when sounded together creates a musical interval. It is the spaces in between where profound healing occurs. This concept, which is explored in Acutonics trainings, can be found at the foundation of alchemy, where the union of two opposing forces comes together in the subtle body.

Venus Treatment Strategies: The archetypal qualities, anatomical correspondences, physiological actions and specific disharmonies associated with Venus provide numerous opportunities to integrate the Ohm Venus 6th or the Mars/Venus 5th into a treatment plan. Just a few examples are provided below a comprehensive exploration of the use of Venus can be found in Acutonics From Galaxies to Cells, Planetary Science, Harmony and Medicine as well as the companion Case Study Guide.

Kidney and Bladder Disharmonies

Disorders of the bladder can result from weakness of kidney energy that may manifest as incontinence or bladder infections. Some additional disharmonies of tweak kidney energy may include infertility or reproductive difficulties, disorders of the uterus and/or ovaries, decreased bone density, lower back weakness or pain, and blockages of the creative process.

Therapeutic Applications:
For incontinence and bladder infections
, use Ohm/Venus 6th on points that influence the kidney and bladder, such as KID 3, Great Ravine, REN 4, Origin Pass, UB 23, Kidney Shu, and UB 60, Kun Lun Mountains. For acute bladder infections, use the New Moon 5th on KID 3, REN 4, and UB 60, followed by the Zodiac 3rd, and finish with the Ohm/Venus 6th to open the channels, disperse the pathogen, and support the kidneys. For chronic symptoms of bladder infections it is important to support the kidneys and bladder. Use Earth Day 5th, Full Moon 6th, and Ohm/Venus 6th on KID 3, REN 4, and UB 23.

Infertility or reproductive issues work with the Ren Mai Extraordinary Vessel and the Chong Mai Extraordinary Vessel 1. On the Ren Mai open on LU 7 Broken Sequence and balance on KID 6, Shining Sea. Use a progressions of Ohm/Venus 6th followed by the Full Moon 6th because of its influence on the uterus and childbirth. On the Chong Mai open on SP 4, Grandparent’s Grandchild and balance on P 6. Use a progression of the Ohm/Venus 6th follow with the Earth Day 5th to support and strengthen the reproductive system. You can also apply the Ohm/Venus 6th on or over the uterus and ovary areas. To expand this treatment for fertility, use the Ohm/Venus 6th on SP 6 follow with Earth Day 5th to generate blood. You can also use the Ohm/Venus 6th followed by Full Moon 6th on REN 4 and KID 3 to support and tonify the kidney energy.

Bone-density issues often relate to kidney deficiency as well as with parathyroid imbalances. When bone-density decrease is seen with kidney deficiency, Huato Jiaji points can be used as with parathyroid imbalance, with the addition of points to tonify the kidney.

Lower back weakness can result in pain and a tendency toward recurring back instability and injuries. The kidneys influence the strength of the spine and the paraspinal muscles. Common treatment might include the Du Mai and Yang Qiao Mai Extraordinary Vessels to influence the support structure of the back. On the Du Mai Open on SI 3 and Balance on UB 62, use a progression of the New Moon 5th to open the spine and then Ohm/Saturn to strengthen structure, follow with Ohm/Venus to focus the kidney energy on the spine. The same sequence of intervals New Moon 5th, Ohm Saturn and Ohm/Venus can also be applied to the Yang Qiao Mai. Open on UB 62, balance on SI 3. Additional kidney points can then be used to support the kidney energy. At the end of the treatment use the High Ohm 2 Interval over the back and spine to help balance the energy.

For blockages of creative expression or the creative process use the Ren Mai Vessel, open on LU 7, Broken Sequence, balance on KID 6, Shining Sea; follow with the Chong Mai Vessel SP 4 to open and P 6 to balance. On both vessels use a sequence of New Moon 5th, to open creativity, Ohm/Venus 6th to infuse the creative energy of Venus into the vessels, and finish with the Full Moon 6th to bring creative energy to fullness. Additionally use New Moon 5th and Ohm/Venus on REN 22, Celestial Chimney to help establish connection with deeper truths that may inform the creative process.

1. When working with the Extraordinary Vessels remember that the colored fork is always used to open the point and the Ohm is used to balance.
