Karen Lee DeBraal graduated with a Master's from Five Branches School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Santa Cruz, CA in 1997. She earned a Bachelors in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz and an Associate of Science in Animal Health Technology from Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, CA.

Karen's path began with and has continued to include animal care. Her experiences involved working in veterinary hospitals, 4 years at the Los Angeles Zoo, 2 years at an animal shelter and several summers on the Santa Fe Humane Society's Spay/Neuter van. She currently has 4 dogs and 5 cats, all rescues.

Her love for animals led to concern for the planet, which evolved into health care for people. Chinese medicine looks at the body as a microcosm of the earth and this mirrors Karen's unique learning adventures. After graduating from Five Branches, Karen studied a style of Japanese acupuncture which uses needles that are held on points but not inserted. This effective and non-invasive modality fueled her interest in Acutonics.

Acutonics takes Karen's love the earth and the cosmos, and of music, and rolls it into a practice that is relaxing and incredibly powerful for pain and stress. Karen is also studying to become a Certified Clinical Musician through Harps for Healing. She currently volunteers her music through Signature Hospice. She enjoys volunteering her Acutonics work for The Trauma Healing Project in Eugene, OR. She is certified as a Diplomate in Acupuncture and in Chinese Herbs by NCCAOM and is licensed by the Oregon Medical Board.
