Melissa Haeckel is an Acutonics® practitioner and educator with more than 20 years of experience in bodywork, health care, yoga, and continuing education. Her work brings together Acutonics®, biodynamic craniosacral therapy, therapeutic facial work, and Chinese medicine meridian theory.
Melissa began studying bodywork in 2000 after injuries from competitive gymnastics and surfing introduced her to its restorative potential. Around the same time, her studies in ethnomusicology, Buddhism, and Taoism in Southeast Asia deepened her interest in sound, awareness, and the relationships among people, place, and the natural world. Her continuing engagement with mythology, herbalism, and botanical perfumery remains part of this perspective.
Her training spans Eastern and Western traditions, including shiatsu, tui na, Ayurvedic bodywork, breathwork, yoga, manual lymphatic drainage, and clinical massage. She completed her Acutonics® training with Will and Theresa Morris from 2019 to 2023 and has practiced in clinical, private-practice, and spa settings.
Her professional experience also includes nursing in Alaska Tribal Health, teaching yoga and massage therapy in Costa Rica and the Pacific Northwest, and participating in therapeutic horsemanship programs in Spain and Italy.
Through Living Form, Melissa created The Face in Acutonics®, a hands-on continuing-education sequence for licensed massage therapists and other qualified practitioners. The program explores the face through sound, touch, points, and meridians while supporting integration within each participant’s professional scope.
